Borussia Dortmund have the champagne on ice when it comes to this final 2022-23 Bundesliga showdown against Mainz, with a victory enabling them to secure a first title in over a decade. This might be Jude Bellingham’s final game for the Black and Yellows and what better way to bow out and move to Real Madrid than to steer his team to a success.
Dortmund have won fourteen of their sixteen matches at Signal Iduna Park this season, with fifty-three goals being scored and just fifteen conceded. We could see lots of goals being scored by the home side and it would be no surprise to find that they triumph by a correct score such as 4-0 or 5-0. But can Mainz put up any resistance?
This is another of Jurgen Klopp’s former clubs and they have managed to win six and draw three of their sixteen away clashes. However, Mainz have lost four successive games in the build-up to this clash and they have been defensively porous considering that the team have conceded thirteen times in the past four clashes.
Conversely, Borussia Dortmund have enjoyed three spectacular wins starting with a 6-0 victory over Wolfsburg on 7 May, with this being followed up by a 5-2 triumph against Borussia Monchengladbach. Then came a 3-0 victory away to Augsburg and it’s going to be difficult to see anything other than a heavy win for Dortmund.
