Como v Napoli Match Result
According to the latest match odds, Napoli have a lower than 50% chance of claiming a victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. Some would argue that their odds of around 2.15 are value considering that the Naples team have won eight of their thirteen encounters on the road, with Antonio Conte’s side bang in contention when it comes to being crowned champions.
However, Napoli have lost their winning touch in the past few weeks and there have been plenty of points dropped. After a seven-game winning run to elevate them into the box seat to land a fourth Scudetto in their history, they have hit the buffers with three consecutive draws. There was a 1-1 scoreline away to Roma before the same scoreline at home to Udinese. Then came a 2-2 draw away to Lazio.
Naturally, two of those games were fairly tough fixtures, with Conte’s side coming from behind to lead against Lazio before being pegged back at the death. They had previously won 3-2 at Atalanta and seen off Juventus, with their match odds certainly making appeal.
As for Como, they were beaten in home matches against Juventus and Atalanta which sandwiched an away loss at Bologna. However, they received a much-needed shot in the arm when scoring a 2-0 success away to Fiorentina where they secured a deserved win which includes four shots on target to their opponents’ three.
There’s the possibility of the match ending in a draw which would certainly be better received by the home side in their quest to achieve enough points for survival. However, the away side will be ramped up to get back to winning ways and we feel as though Napoli are really good value.
Goals Under/Over
The goals market is an interesting one for this Serie A clash. The Under 2.5 option is trading at a slightly shorter price than the overs, although there have been plenty of goals scored in Como home games this term. A sum total of thirty-nine have been registered in twelve encounters, with that average of over three alone insinuating that we might see the net bulge numerous times.
On the flip side, we’re talking about an Antonio Conte team who are chasing the title and finding a way to win the game in an ugly fashion. The visitors have only conceded eleven goals on the road all term and are likely to run a tight ship against a team whose attack tends to be hit and miss, which is hardly a surprise as one of the promoted teams from Serie B.
BTTS
There’s no separating the odds when it comes to BTTS Yes and BTTS No for this Serie A Sunday lunchtime clash. Five of the past seven games involving Como have seen the former happen, with Cesc Fabregas’ side having scored in their previous seven home games which suggests that they are more than capable of finding the net at least once in this encounter.
This includes that four-goal salvo against Udinese although there was also two scored against Roma and Lecce, while Como were also able to find the net against Monza, Milan, Atalanta and Juventus. They also scored twice at Fiorentina last weekend and could be capable of breaching the Napoli defence at least once.
The title challengers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their past five top-flight encounters and all of these games have ended BTTS Yes. The 2-2 draw at Lazio in their most recent clash nearly saw Conte’s men come away with three points although the bottom line is that the Rome side actually had five shots on target and it’s all pointing towards the BTTS Yes option being the most attractive one.
First Goalscorer
Romelu Lukaku has been reunited with Antonio Conte at Napoli and the Belgian has found the net nine times this season. This includes recent goals against Fiorentina, Atalanta and Juventus, with the forward looking to find a way past a defence which might struggle to deal with the physical presence that is posed by the 31-year-old.
Scott McTominay is another former Manchester United player who is thriving at the Naples club and the Scottish midfielder has been able to score against Fiorentina, Atalanta and Udinese, with Conte playing him in an advanced position and this is another player that carries a big aerial threat.
As for the home side, there are a few decent options and that includes Nico Paz. The 20-year-old is on loan from Real Madrid and was on the scoresheet at Fiorentina last weekend, with that being his fifth goal in the space of nine games. Similarly, Assane Dio has struck up a good partnership with Paz and could be another player worth considering.
The nineteen-year-old has scored four times in the previous six encounters and that includes a goal against Juventus and Fiorentina. He was also able to find the net against Milan and Udinese, with the home side hoping that their pair of youngsters can cause a few problems.
