Juventus v Inter Milan Match Result

Inter Milan are currently odds-on to win the Scudetto and a victory in this tough encounter would keep them in a strong position to retain their Serie A title. The Serie A betting sites make this a two-horse race now between Inter and Napoli, with Atalanta having an outside chance of having a say in the overall proceedings.

Some might argue that Inter are a good price to win this weekend’s clash at the Juventus Stadium, although Simone Inzaghi’s side have failed to win four of their twelve games on the road. They have also had a couple of recent slip-ups including a shock 3-0 defeat away to Fiorentina where the opposition scored three unanswered second half goals.

On that occasion, Inter only had two shots on target compared to their opponents’ six, with the champions needing a late equaliser to avoid defeat against Milan at the San Siro although they did have the better of that particular game and will be heading to Turin aiming to land a maximum haul.

As for Juventus, the season has had its challenges and they were defeated 2-1 at Napoli towards the end of January before a 2-0 home reverse to Benfica in the Champions League. However, they come into this fixture in good form after a 4-1 thrashing of Empoli was followed by a 2-1 success at Como, with this game coming after a European encounter against PSV.

The fact that they are out of the running for the Scudetto might mean that they take the Champions League more seriously, although there’s the small matter of aiming to finish in the top four this season so that they can remain at the European top table. The Old Lady are yet to taste defeat at home although seven of their twelve games in Turin have ended in a draw.

Goals Under/Over

The bookmakers think it’s slightly more likely that we’ll see Under 2.5 Goals compared to Over 2.5 Goals. Juventus run a tight ship defensively at home, with Thiago Motta’s side having conceded just ten goals in their twelve home matches. On the road, it’s been a similar story with just eleven shipped and it’s clear that defence is their strength.

However, there have been Over 2.5 Goals in three of the previous four encounters leading into the Champions League match against PSV, with the team having found the scoring touch by notching six times in the previous two clashes. Kolo Muani has well and truly found his shooting boots and the Frenchman can potentially boost the goal tally.

As for Inter, they are also fairly miserly on the road with just nine conceded in twelve away matches although that 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina suggests that they can be breached. Four of the previous five clashes involving the Italian champions have seen the game go over the 2.5 goals line.

BTTS

Although Under 2.5 Goals is trading at odds-on, the BTTS Yes quote is shorter than BTTS No. That’s because 1-1 is among the most likely scorelines, with a draw certainly on the cards based on the sheer volume of Juventus home games which have ended all square. It’s also the fact that both teams have shown a propensity to score this season.

The visitors have scored thirty times in their twelve away games which suggests that they will find the net at least once in Sunday’s encounter, with Inter having scored in fourteen of their previous fifteen clashes. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram both carry a big goal threat and it might be a surprise if they are nullified.

As for Juventus, they have a slightly more modest twenty-one goals in twelve home matches although the Bianconeri will want to preserve their unbeaten home record and they might well have to score at least once to achieve this. The home side have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous four matches, with BTTS Yes a more likely outcome as the odds suggest.

First Goalscorer

Marcus Thuram will hope to be fit for this Serie A clash and the Frenchman has thirteen goals in the Italian top flight this season. He will look to fire Inter to another Scudetto although he did come off the pitch with an injury in the previous encounter and perhaps it will be Lautaro Martinez who is given the responsibility of leading the line.

The Argentine has had an underwhelming time of things in front of goal considering he’s failed to reach double figures this term in Serie A, although there was a recent hat-trick against Monaco in the Champions League, while Denzel Dumfries is worth a wager as an outside bet and the Dutchman has recently bagged against Bologna, Empoli and Lecce.

Juventus haven’t scored a huge number of goals this season, although Dusan Vlahovic returned to the scoresheet against Empoli after seven games without finding the net. Many of the Serbian’s goals have come in bursts, with strikes against Manchester City, Venezia and Cagliari coming in December.

There were also braces for the striker against Verona, Genoa and Leipzig although perhaps it’s Kolo Muani that could be the most likely scorer for Juventus. The 26-year-old didn’t pull up any trees for Paris Saint-Germain in the first half of the season, although the goals have flowed for the Bianconeri including strikes against Napoli, Empoli and Como.
