Lazio v Atalanta Match Result
Some might feel that Lazio are decent value to claim a victory in this Serie A clash. After all, they are around the 3.00 mark to claim a win despite being the home side. We also have to point out that the Rome side have secured six triumphs in front of their own fans, scoring seventeen goals and conceding twelve.
Marco Baroni’s side tend to go for victories considering that they’ve only drawn once all season. They’ve collected eleven wins in total and lost five. Recent form has been strong with the exception of a 6-0 demolition at the hands of Inter, where they collapsed from the 40th minute onwards where four goals were conceded in the space of twelve minutes.
However, Lazio were able to bounce back with a victory at Lecce, with Adam Marusic scoring an 87th minute winner against ten men. They have also recently been able to claim a 1-0 success at Napoli along with a 3-1 win at Ajax, although this is admittedly a tough assignment as Atalanta have lots of scoring ability.
Atalanta have clocked up forty points from seventeen games and they’ve won six of their nine away clashes this term. Gian Piero Gasperini has seen his side score a healthy seventeen goals and conceding eight, with La Dea on the winning trail in Serie A. Incredibly, the last time they dropped points domestically was losing 3-2 at home to Como in September.
The visitors have achieved a massive string of wins and some of the recent wins have been away to Cagliari, Roma and Parma, with this team having the knack of performing well against some of the top teams and it’s hard to bet against them too much of the time.
Goals Under/Over
The Goals Line for this game is interesting, with 2.5 Goals being right in the middle of the market. The bookies can’t split the odds between Over and Under for this clash, with Atalanta having a rock solid defence on the road this term. La Dea have only shipped eight goals in their nine away games, although they do average two goals on the road in their matches.
Lazio average two goals per home game and perhaps they’ll look to get on the front foot in an attempt to end their opponents’ excellent run in Serie A. The fact that twenty-nine goals have been scored in eight of their home matches suggests that the Overs could be the selection for a Bet Builder and we shouldn’t forget that Atalanta have a reputation for high-scoring encounters.
Indeed, the past three matches featuring Lazio have involved Over 2.5 Goals and the same applies to five of the previous six encounters. As for Atalanta, four of their previous games in all competitions have had the same outcome.
BTTS
Although there’s little to separate the Over and Under quotes when it comes to 2.5 Goals, the BTTS Yes option is trading at a shorter price than BTTS No. It’s hardly a surprise considering that both teams are accustomed to finding the net in the majority of their matches.
The last time that Atalanta drew a blank in any game was crazily a goalless draw against Celtic in the Champions League. In Serie A, you have to go back to a 4-0 defeat away to Inter at the end of August which suggested a title tilt wasn’t on the cards. However, the team have demonstrated a good scoring prowess since then.
As for Lazio, the 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Inter looks to be something of a freak result considering that they have found the net in the other five matches most recently played. They had seven shots on target at Lecce in their previous encounter and generally create plenty of good chances in their games.
First Goalscorer
Atalanta have some excellent forward players and it’s Mateo Retegui who is riding high at the top of the scoring charts. The Italian has fourteen goals in all competitions, although some customers might be wary of backing a player who has gone on a goal shortage in recent encounters. It’s now been six games without a goal since that brace at Young Boys in the Champions League.
However, goals come from all areas and Ademola Lookman is fresh from winning African Player of the Year, with the former Everton man having been notching in front of goal in recent encounters. He found the net against Milan, Real Madrid and Empoli in his previous four encounters and could be good for another strike here.
Lazio’s top scorer this season has been Valentin Castellanos who was back on the scoresheet with a goal away to Lecce and he also bagged away to Parma. Boulaye Dia has plenty of goals this term although they came towards the earlier part of the campaign, with Gustav Isaksen also boasting a goal threat.
