Lazio v Fiorentina Match Result
Lazio look a backable price to beat a Fiorentina side who are struggling to land a victory right now. The Rome side won six and drew three of their ten clashes so far at home this term, with just a solitary defeat having been experienced. Marco Baroni saw his team claim a 3-0 triumph at Verona last weekend and it was a convincing win.
Lazio were fast out of the traps by racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Samuel Gigot and Boulaye Dia, with the team having 65% of possession and they’ll now look to make home advantage count at the Stadio Olimpico. However, Lazio have been held to 1-1 home draws in recent clashes against Como and Atalanta.
The latter bagged a late equaliser to earn a point, while Como were able to score an equaliser after the hosts were reduced to ten men. However, Fiorentina have been on a winless run which started when the Florence side were beaten 1-0 at Bologna in the middle of December.
Raffaele Palladino is still searching for the magic ingredient, with Fiorentina losing 2-1 at home to Udinese although there was a 2-2 draw away to Juventus. There’s been a real struggle to keep clean sheets and Napoli escaped with a 3-0 victory before losing to Monza and then drawing with Torino.
The visitors would clearly be pleased to claim a draw in this tricky fixture and let’s not forget that La Viola have achieved a positive result in 70% of their away games this term. They do still boast a decent away record and that involves conceding just nine goals in total, with more to come from this talented side.
Goals Under/Over
The 2.5 Goals line looks perfectly set and you can get the same odds when it comes to Unders or Overs. There have been thirty-three goals scored in the ten Lazio home games thus far and this average of 3.3 suggests that Over 2.5 Goals could be a good wager. However, there is the fact that Fiorentina have been largely watertight on the road.
La Viola have conceded just nine times away from home this season, with the visitors aiming to keep things tight and claim a positive outcome. We can’t rule out the opening exchanges being a tight one although four of the previous five Fiorentina encounters have seen Over 2.5 Goals scored.
We think that the latest trends suggest that a 1-1 scoreline is going to be a definite runner and Under 2.5 Goals could represent better value.
BTTS
The Serie A betting sites think it’s marginally more likely that both teams will score compared to them not doing so. Only two of the previous three Lazio games have seen BTTS Yes happen, with the team suffering a 2-0 defeat in the Rome derby and a 3-0 victory at Verona came after a 1-1 draw with Como.
Previously to this, there had been a 1-1 draw with Atalanta after a 2-1 victory away to Lecce. Therefore, it’s been a fairly even combination for the home side, while Fiorentina have been engaged in plenty of BTTS Yes encounters recently. Aside from a 3-0 home defeat against Napoli, five of the other six clashes have seen both teams scoring.
Nearer the beginning of the season, La Viola were running a tighter ship from a defensive point-of-view although it seems as though clean sheets are more of a rarity for the team right now. Overall, we think BTTS Yes is a likely outcome but the 1-1 scoreline would represent a more attractive proposition for those wanting a bigger price.
First Goalscorer
The favourite to score the first goal of this Serie A clash is Valentin Castellanos, with the Italian leading the line for Lazio and he has seven on the board this season. After getting a red card against Roma, he will be raring to go for this encounter and played the full game away to Verona without getting on the scoresheet.
Boulaye Dia has scored in consecutive games for the home side and the Senegalese midfielder could represent a decent anytime scorer wager, with Mattia Zaccagni another one to watch and he was also among the goals in that recent win over Verona.
As for Fiorentina, they are looking for their first victory since that 7-0 win over LASK in the Europa Conference League where there were six different scorers. Riccardo Sottil managed a brace in that game, although he only has five for the season, with Moise Kean the go-to man and he was on the scoresheet against Torino.
That means that the 24-year-old has scored sixteen times so far this season, with three bagged in his previous five encounters. He’s also on penalties for La Viola and could rate as a decent each-way shout or perhaps one for the Bet Builders.
