Champions League Quarter Final Second Leg 2018 Odds Comparison

08/04/2018 08:15

the way the champions league quarter final ties are set up, there’s a chance we will be in for something truly special on tuesday and wednesday night. each of the ties has a very strong favourite after the first legs but although romantics will be looking forward to unpredictable twists and turns, it’s much more likely that the four favourites will book their place in the semi finals. still, there is betting value to be found in each of the games and we’ve picked out the best bets below.

man city v liverpool: liverpool can hold on as man city turn it on

liverpool showed the rest of the premier league that being scared of manchester city doesn’t work. while most other teams have focussed on trying to stop city from hurting them in attacking positions, jurgen klopp has taken the game to the premier league champions elect. that approach made liverpool the first team to beat man city in the league and, if the betting odds are anything to go by, it has liverpool with one foot in the champions league semi finals.

man city have it all to do after their 3-0 defeat at anfield. it’s going to take one of the biggest comebacks in champions league history for pep guardiola’s men to remain in the competition. as our odds comparison shows, you can get 5/1 on man city qualifying with bet365. that is a very big ask even for a team of city’s calibre but you can be sure that they’ll be giving it their all at the etihad.

man city look a good price to score over 2.5 goals at 11/8 with betfair and keep this tie exciting until the end. however, liverpool should manage a potentially crucial away goal making a bet on both teams to score look wise at odds of 8/13 with paddy power. it could also be worth taking the betting odds of 11/10 that coral are quoting on over 3.5 goals.

roma v barcelona: barcelona to cruise into the semi finals

roma have given a very good account of themselves in the champions league. many thought they’d be playing europa league football now having been drawn against chelsea and atletico madrid in the group stage but they fully deserved to win group c. the giallorossi then battled to get past shakhtar donetsk but their time in the competition is surely now up.

barcelona showed all of their ability and experience on the biggest stage to win the first leg of their quarter final 4-1. that away goal does give roma the slightest glimmer of hope but it’s going to take an almighty performance to score three unanswered goals against lionel messi and company.

the best betting odds you’ll get on barcelona to qualify is the 1/100 that boylesports are offering. that is not a bet worth taking but barcelona winning in rome on tuesday night could well be at 4/6 with ladbrokes.

bayern munich v sevilla: no shock on the cards at the allianz arena

pep guardiola is a very tough act to follow. bayern munich hired the spaniard as much for what he can teach them about coaching as for securing success while he was at the club. carlo ancelotti was the man given the responsibility of following on from guardiola but his light tough approach never really went down well with the bayern players.

when ancelotti was shown the door following a very poor start to the season (at least by bayern’s incredibly high standards) the club’s hierarchy turned to jupp heynckes. he may be 72 but heynckes’ enthusiasm for the game and for bayern remains as strong as ever and the team have picked up considerably since his return.

bayern munich were full value for their win in what could have been a very tricky away tie against sevilla last tuesday. sevilla are an excellent cup side and they did pull a huge performance out of the bag against man utd but we predict the chances of them doing something similar away to bayern munich are incredibly slim. bayern should be in complete control and a bet on them winning to nil at 13/10 with unibet looks good.

real madrid v juventus: real madrid to power through to yet another semi final

ahead of real madrid’s round of 16 tie with psg all the talk was about whether zinedine zidane would last the season in charge of the spanish giants. that such conversations were being had about the man who had guided real to back to back champions league titles was mind boggling for some but that’s just how tough life is at the santiago bernabeu.

thankfully for zidane and his fans, real madrid showed all of their experience and nous at this level to navigate a route past psg. they’re also priced at incredibly short odds to make it past juventus following their hugely impressive 3-0 win in turin. cristiano ronaldo’s goal will rightly live long in the memory but the quality of real madrid’s performance – especially the way they controlled the midfield battle – was the real story of the night.

real won’t let this lead slip and should be just as commanding in the return leg at home. as you can see on our odds comparison, the home side are around 4/7 to beat juventus. that’s a fair price but a more tempting option is the odds of 2/1 that bet365 are offering on real madrid winning to nil.

outright winner market: real madrid shortening all the time

barcelona have been the favourites in the betting to win the champions league for a long time now. there were a few question marks about how well barca would take to life under ernesto valverde but it’s now clear that the players are enjoying life under their new manager.

although barca are racing certainties to progress through to the semi finals, the recent form of real madrid on the continent has seen many bookies cut the odds of zinedine zidane’s men to the same price as barcelona at a general 9/4. bayern munich may have something to say about things but the two spanish giants do look the most likely winners.
