Germany are firmly on course to finish top of World Cup qualifying group J after five wins in their six matches. However, the blot on their copybook is that 2-1 home reverse against North Macedonia where Joachim Low’s side suffered a confidence-denting defeat and they limped into Euro 2020 and never recovered.

The two teams meet again at the Toše Proeski Arena in Skopje and Blagoja Milevski’s side are certainly in contention to land another play-off spot for the 2022 World Cup, with Macedonia essentially battling it out with Armenia and Romania for their chance to make a second consecutive major tournament appearance.

However, this could be a difficult encounter against a Germany side who will want to make sure of top spot as quickly as possible. While Die Mannschaft were caught cold in their previous clash against the same team, they appear stronger under Hansi Flick and will want to serve up the goals in this encounter.

Having played Romania a few days earlier, expect Flick to rotate his squad although the best bet could be Germany to win and keep a clean sheet despite plenty of spirit being shown from the home side.
