Brazil v Morocco Betting Markets
Brazil v Morocco is one of the highlight opening group games of the 2026 World Cup. The Selecao remain the most successful country in the history of the tournament. They have five wins to their name and will be well-supported in every game of this summer's tournament. However, it hasn't been since Japan and South Korea in 2002 that we've seen this South American giant come out on top.
Since then, the Brazilians have gone out at the quarter-final stage on four separate occasions. There was also a fourth-placed effort on home soil in 2014 after being humiliated by eventual winners Germany in the semis. This is not the invincible team of old and the team have suffered a number of defeats in the past few months.
Nevertheless, Brazil are odds-on favourites to win this clash. Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers of all time, with the Italian having seen his team beat Croatia in Orlando at the end of March. This came after a 2-1 defeat against France a few days earlier, with the Selecao having been unconvincing in qualification.
They were only able to win eight of their eighteen qualifying clashes, with Morocco likely to give a good account of themselves in East Rutherford. They recently proved themselves to be top dogs in Africa with an awarded AFCON success, with Mohamed Ouahbi aiming to engineer another deep run in this particular tournament.
The Belgian has been part of the Morocco coaching set-up for a number of years and the African side cruised through qualification. There was some surprise that Walid Regragui was deposed considering his achievements in Qatar, although there are plenty of talented players within the group including Achraf Hakimi.
Goals Under/Over
There's nothing between the Over and Under 2.5 Goals odds, with Brazil boasting some very talented attacking players. Veteran forward Neymar has been included in the squad and the Santos forward has 79 goals in 128 appearances. There's also the mercurial Vinicius Junior who has shone for Real Madrid along with Barcelona's Raphinha, although we shouldn't rule out Morocco from running a tight ship.
The African side were defensively stout at the previous World Cup. In Qatar, there was a goalless draw played against Croatia before a 2-0 win over Belgium. In the knockout stage, Spain were then thwarted with a goalless draw before a 1-0 win over Portugal. This is a team built on very solid foundations and they won't be daunted by the prospect of meeting Brazil.
The big question is whether Morocco will be able to score. They had another goalless draw in the semi-finals of AFCON against Nigeria before the same thing happened in the final. A point would also suit their needs as they aim to progress.
BTTS
BTTS No is operating at relatively short odds. There's around a 60% chance that at least one team will fail to find the net according to the bookies. Morocco are all about a solid defensive framework and one wonders how many chances will be created against the Brazilians. Although the South American side are blessed with attacking talent, they may well achieve shutouts along the way.
Alisson is one of the best keepers in the world and there's the formidable central defensive partnership of Gabriel and Marquinhos. We like the idea of Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta in the middle of the park, while there are lots of goals potentially in the team.
Morocco's games generally involved BTTS No, although they did play out a 1-1 draw with Ecuador and there was a 2-1 success against Paraguay in a recent friendly. Marseille's Nayef Aguerd is a solid operator at the back although there will be no Romain Saiss at the back, with Al Hilal's Yassine Bounou having earned nearly 100 caps for his country.
Given that this is the first group game for both sides, BTTS No seems the logical play. A 1-0 win for Brazil and a goalless draw would probably be where I'd be betting on the correct score market.
First Goalscorer
It will be interesting to see whether Neymar is given the nod. If the former Barcelona man can operate as part of Carlo Ancelotti's system, he could benefit with having Vinicius Junior and Raphinha either side of him. The pair are oozing class on the flanks and there are plenty of goals within that attacking trident.
Igor Thiago of Brentford has had a stellar season in the Premier League and will be ready to take his chance when given the nod. There's also Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha even if he only has one international goal to his name thus far. Let's not rule out a set piece goal, with Marquinhos and Gabriel likely to cause problems in the air. Captain Casemiro is also able to rise to the occasion.
There are some good Morocco options too. Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz averages more than a goal per two games for his country and should get the nod as part of an attacking line-up. There's also Olympiakos striker Ayoub El Kaabi who has twenty goals across fifty-five international appearances.
